Passion

Passion was a title for a theatre I have been watched with my course mate recently. First impression when I heard people said something about the theatre; I think it is not really interesting to watch. The Theatre was held at Pentas 2, The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPack). After I watch the theatre, it was quite boring. I don’t really understand the message they try to convey. And the theatre wasn’t ordinary theatre, it based on musical theatre. Passion, inspired by Carlos Saura’s film ‘Tango’ is created by Joe Hasham. The choreographer and collaborator is exquisitely talented Judimar Hernandez. Passion boasts the cast of Malaysia’s top dancers and choreographers. Bold, seductive and boring. Their dancing was nothing and it is meaningless. They convey their message through body language but some of audience maybe include me still blurred what the message are. Sometimes I do understand what they are trying to reveal but sometimes I don’t. in this theatre show, it was mainly about a man who was dating his girlfriend for about two years but he had been betrayed. His lover date anther man besides him. He felt devastated. So, at the same time he fall in love with other lady. As he try to build the relationship with that lady, his lover came to him after she was dumped from her other boyfriend and try to win his heart back. Eventually, his lover managed to win his heart back and leave another lady in despair. But it was for a shot while, because the man still in delusion who to choose between her girlfriend or the new lady who actually had win his heart. Both he wanted! So both of the ladies left him alone. He was dejected. Then, at the end of the play both ladies making love with each other. They are lesbian. What a pathetic! All in all, it was a boring story and full of seduction.

What do you feel when you evaluating others?

When evaluating others and being evaluate it is different feelings. Being evaluated will make you nervous and afraid but when I evaluating others such as my friends I will feel happy and can look at other’s weakness so that I can used it to cover my own weakness. Accessing others not really easy job that you can take lightly. You have to pay attention on what your friends are saying and the message that him or her try to convey. Your judgment is important to your friends because with the evaluation, he or she can know their weakness and strong points on their teaching. Given comment unnecessarily is prohibited as this can affect your friends. So, as a person who is accessing others I was really taking a cautious step so that my friends that I access will not hurt by my comment. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be good in accessing others that fact cannot be denied but at the same time you should take cautious steps. Evaluating people is a stage that will make us be creative and critics. We ought to use our brain to evaluate others and this might make us creative and critic’s thinker. Before I rest my case, I would like to emphasize here that evaluated others will make me feel happy but it is not an easy job as you might think.

What do you feel when your friends evaluate you on your microteaching?

I was totally nervous when I am teaching in front of the class, like normal people do. So, for amateur person like me, it is really a tough time while teaching in front of others especially in front of my friends because they will access me. Tense will be all over my body. During microteaching, I was given my best so that I can score good judgment from all of my friends. I was nervous yet I have to put it a side my feeling in order to make my lesson successful. In order to do so, I will make sure I done exactly what Dr. Edwin ask me to do for exercises. Apart from exercises, I also will make sure I used correct pronunciations and grammar. All these are important since evaluating is based on these items. It was a quite tough for me as my grammar and pronunciation sometimes not in a correct order. Eventually, during microteaching I was able to do my best and it was a big relieve. Nervous, afraid of being evaluate are part and partial for human being, after that it will gone. The evaluation towards me can make me mature and at the same time I can improve myself to be better person or might I say teacher when I was out for teaching someday.

macbeth

Oh my God! This is the words that I repeated many many times. I dare not to watch violent movie which is so terrified to look at the actions played by the actors. So my advice is do not watch this movie if you are afraid to watch this kind of movie. Why I say so? It is because, there are blood everywhere, killing each other, slaughtering and etc. You got to believe me. It is awful to watch people died and blood spreading everywhere (that is why I am not becoming a doctor, I supposed). Macbeth at the beginning was an innocent and loyal person towards his country and the King. But when he met three witches whom can predict the future and they are telling something about Macbeth becoming the next king, Macbeth become obsesses. He killed the king with the help of his wife. It is when the king awarded him as a landlord and paid him a visit. After killed the king he accused that the murder of the king was done by two guards who took after the king. The two was slaughtered and killed instantly. Under Macbeth’s ruler, Scotland had become disaster place. Macbeth killed his own best friend and also try to killed his best friend’s son (the witches said that Bourdou’s grandson will be the next ruler) but Phillian managed to escaped. Macbeth trying his hard to varnish all the people that might be his competitors in becoming king so that he might as well rules Scotland longer. At the same time, Macbeth is going through mental illness because of his doing. He is seeing Bourdou with blood all over his face and is coming after him. He was terrified. To add the matter worst, Macbeth’s wife also had a mental illness and at the end she committed suicide. There will be war soon against Scotland. Some fled, and Macbeth teases them of their coward ness. Still, Macbeth is laid back because the prophecy said that he will be fine until the Benem (Birnam) Forest come to him which to him is unlikely. One day, the people in charge of the tower said that the forest seems to be moving. Everyone fled leaving Macbeth all alone. Macbeth fought for his life. He challenges Macduff during the sword battle. But eventually, Macbeth was slaughtered by Macduff. What a horrific ending.

Shakespeare Wallah

First thing in my mind, I thought that the film we will watch are based on the real story based on Shakespeare’s story. But to my surprised, it is actually a movie starring Shashi Kapoor, who an Indian actor who was famous in Bollywood in those years. The movie was established in the year of 1965. There is no technology color on the film and fortunately we have to watch the film in white and black. I am not quit impressed when it was played for the first hours of the movie but eventually as the movie goes on it captured my intention. The film is all about a differences of role between actor and actress in the theater and motion picture. There are huge gap and will lead to the big problem. For instance, in this movie Manjula is the famous actress in the motion picture in India and she is really arrogance. She also looks down on others especially those who came from theater background. Manjula hating Lucy so much because Lucy is an actress in theater and Manjula jealous when she discover that Sanju (famous actor cum Manjula’s consort) had a feeling towards that British lady (Lucy). These modern days, people tend to watch movies rather than theater. That is why; theater actor and actress lost their spark. In this movie, Lucy followed her parents traveling all over India in order to perform Shakespeare’s masterpieces. Sanju, the hero in this movie, fallen in love with Lucy but there are obstacles in their relationship because they are different. Same as Manjula, Sanju is an actor in motion picture, he cannot adapt theater environment as he try hard to fit in there. That was one of the differences obviously. At the end, Lucy going back to London and left everything behind her in India.

Tiresias

In Sophocoles' Oedipus The King, Oedipus, the king of Thebes, calls upon Tiresias to aid in the investigation of the killing of the previous king Laius. At first, Tiresias refuses to give a direct answer because he did not want Oedipus to feel burden and instead hints that the killer is someone Oedipus really does not wish to find. However, after being provoked to anger by Oedipus' blaming that he has no foresight and then that Tiresias had had a hand in the murder, he reveals that in fact it was Oedipus himself who had (unwittingly) committed the crime. Feeling angriness, Oedipus throws him out of the palace, but then afterwards realises the truth.

Although, Tiresias is blind but actually he got the ability to predict the future. Even though, Oedipus can see but he is actually blind to see the true in front of him. Tiresias knew everything about the murderer of Laius but he still remains calm and not reveals the true. Oedipus is the person who provoked him on telling the truth yet at the end it’s make him in such of big mess.

Tiresias reveals to the reader that to see physically does not mean that you can see mentally, as Oedipus clearly displays towards his past and his fate. Irony is displayed throughout Oedipus Rex and is ultimately displayed by Tiresias. Tiresias, even though completely blind physically, can see the “wretchedness” of Oedipus’ life. On the other hand, Oedipus, who has complete use of his sight, is totally blind to his past and his fate.

Play

In Dr. Edwin class, he had given us a task, an interesting task. He asked us to do a play. In a group of two or three, we are assigned to do action on one text. With an expression and creativity, we were asked to do different kind of play using only one text. It is sound unfamiliar to us, especially me because I never done it before. So, as a group, we practiced doing lots of expressions on the text.

After giving us lots of time, Dr. Edwin called up names and asked to do the play. There are three groups, he called to show up. Three groups with three different expressions. Is it wonderful? Group Izwan and Khairil, who is the lucky person I guess, had been chosen. They used the text and pretend like they are in a coffeehouse. Their play is hilarious!

That day, we laugh so much to see our colleague do their play. I think the whole class are enjoying themselves. Last but not least, it is good to have different kind of activities to make the learning worth.
